Longtime Paper and Packaging Executive Joins Industry Leader In Receipts and Labeling Solutions

Duluth, GA – Iconex announced today that Craig Gunckel has been named Chief Executive Officer of the Duluth, Georgia-based provider of innovative business solutions, effective July 17, 2017. Mr. Gunckel, who most recently served as President of Enterprise Solutions and Merchandising Displays at WestRock, brings over two decades of experience in the paper and packaging sectors.

Iconex invented the paper receipt over a century ago and continues to be an industry leader in receipts today. Operating five manufacturing facilities around the world, Iconex also connects people and goods through its rapidly growing “best in class” labeling and tracking technology.

Michael Sher, Principal of Atlas Holdings LLC which owns Iconex, said, “We are extremely excited that Craig Gunckel has agreed to join our team and serve as Iconex’ next Chief Executive Officer. For over twenty years, Craig held a number of senior leadership positions at RockTenn, which ultimately merged with MeadWestvaco to form WestRock. He has demonstrated expertise in developing and executing growth strategies and played a significant role in WestRock’s success. He’s a proven leader, and someone who is passionate about innovation and focused on delivering bottom-line results.”

“Craig is widely respected for his commitment to excellence and to good community stewardship. He’s an ideal person to lead Iconex as we write the next great chapter in the storied history of the company,” Sher added.

“Few businesses can say they invented a product used by millions of people each day; even fewer can say they have sustained that level of market leadership for over a century. Iconex is one of those businesses. I am very excited to join my new colleagues in building an even brighter future for the company,” said Gunckel. “We will continue to innovate, to deliver superior service to our customers and ensure that our employees are safe in their workplace.”

Eddie Noel has stepped down from his position as Iconex’ CEO effective July 10, 2017. He has been named an Operating Partner of Atlas Holdings and intends to pursue new endeavors. Sher acknowledged Noel for his years of service at Iconex, saying, “Iconex is firmly positioned today as the premier provider of solutions that drive commerce around the world. Eddie Noel played a key role in launching our new brand and in advancing many important initiatives during his tenure with the company. We’re pleased that he will remain in the Atlas family as an Operating Partner.”
